The rumors swirling this morning in the College Football world hit Beantown as Emerson College, Suffolk University, and Boston University will not be fielding football teams during the Coronavirus Pandemic.

It should also be noted that these three Boston schools have not fielded a football team in neotoric memory.  Emerson claims they remain undefeated, though.

In all seriousness, Boston College has not made any decision yet for the fall as an ACC Official told CBS Sports today the conference "absolutely" intends to play.

As for the unfortunate news: Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press reported Monday afternoon that the BIG 10 presidents voted 12-2 to "not play this fall."

Clemson Tigers QB Trevor Lawerence took to Twitter this weekend and started the hashtag "#WeWantToPlay" while also releasing this statement:

Ohio State QB Justin Fields and many other players also tweeted that photo.

Lawerence tweeted the players will be safer because their will be guidelines they must follow, rather than if they were just at home they wouldn't have to follow many guidelines.

President Donald Trump also weighed in advocating for a season.

Many other government officials echoed Lawerence's statement.  US Sen. Ben Sasse wrote a letter he plans to send to BIG 10 presidents saying "the structure and discipline of football programs is very likely safer than what the lived experience of 18- to 22-year-olds will be if there isn't a season."

Reigning Heisman Trophy Winner and Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow said if this happened a year prior, he would be "looking for a job right now."

I am speaking for just myself, not the rest of Ridin' Pine, when I say I sincerely hope there is a college football season because their will be so many dreams that come up short, so many EARNED opportunities that won't follow through, and the most important thing: if proper protocols are put into place, the health and safety of players will not be in as serious jeopardy as it could be.

Hopefully some more positive news comes out before the weekend as the season is set to kickoff Saturday, August 29.
