We learned a lot about a lot of teams way back in week 1. Now, we’ll see who stays consistent, who takes a step back, and most importantly: who gets hot!
All times are 1:00 p.m. ET unless otherwise noted.
THURSDAY
New York (N) @ Washington 8:20 P.M. ET
Jake: Football Team
This pass rush is just too good for such a horrific Giants offensive line. I know I’ve been a huge Daniel Jones supporter since the start of the show and while I think he’s shown flashes of being a very good NFL QB he hasn’t exactly did himself any favors either.
Sam: Football Team
Johnny: Football Team
In Heinicke we trust! Daniel Jones will continue to Daniel Jones, especially on a Thursday. It’s time for Joe Judge to move on.
SUNDAY
New England @ New York (A)
Jake: Patriots
Wilson will be a great NFL QB but I’m never picking a first-year QB against the Patriots. Ever.
Sam: Patriots
I still don't fully believe in Michael McCorkle Jones, and I may even believe in him less than Zach Wilson. This should be one of the closer Jets Patriots games of the last few years but I think New England will prevail.
Johnny: ____
BB dominates rookie QBs, especially Sam Darnold’s clone. One thing I will say, though, is NYJ QB Zach Wilson is better than Tua
Denver @ Jacksonville
Jake: Broncos
Lawrence had a brutal showing in his first game. In other news, Teddy Bridgewater is much better than Drew Lock.
Sam: Broncos
Johnny: Broncos
It’s so fun to watch Teddy Bridgewater succeed
Buffalo @ Miami
Jake: Bills
Tua did what he needed to do against the Patriots week one outside of the head-scratcher of an interception but even though the Bills are coming off of a rough week one, the defense did what they needed to do against the Steelers, and I find it hard to believe that the offense will look as bad as they did last week.
Sam: Bills
Johnny: Bills
Breaking: The Bills are not facing TJ Watt this week
San Francisco @ Philadelphia
Jake: 49ers
Jimmy G did exactly what he needed to do week one, and as long as he plays like that, this now-healthy defense will be able to carry them very far.
Sam: Eagles
Johnny: 49ers
I like Hurts and I think Philly will be solid this year, but the ‘9ers are playing for something special, they are already on the map
Los Angeles (N) @ Indianapolis
Jake: Rams
Sam: Rams
Johnny: Rams
The Rams looked like a well-oiled, Big 12 offense last week against the Bears, the Colts and Carson Wentz don’t have what it takes
Las Vegas @ Pittsburgh
Jake: Raiders
Sam: Steelers
Did we all watch the same games last week? Yeah the Raiders scraped one out vs the Ravens and Carr looks awesome, but the Steelers absolutely manhandled the Bills offense last week and aging Big Ben was still able to put a few points on the board. The transitive property doesn't always hold true but the Bills are much better than the Raiders and a team that can beat Buffalo can stomp Vegas.
Johnny: Raiders
We saw what Carr can do under-pressure during that WILD MNF game. Now, he just has to outplay Big Ben
Cincinnati @ Chicago
Jake: Bengals
Sam: Bears
Da Bears are by no means great, but they had a fairly similar squad last year when they made the playoffs and played competitively vs the Saints. Dalton is a little worse than Trubisky but Fields has a lot of potential and even in week 1 they showed they were comfortable working him into the offense. Cincinnati is a team on the up but I don’t think they’re yet good enough to beat the bears.
Johnny: Bengals
Houston @ Cleveland
Jake: Browns
The Texans somehow played like a real football team against the Jaguars last week, which is shocking for a team that was expected to be in contention for the toilet bowl. Tyrod Taylor is a solid NFL QB that’s had a really unlucky string of events, but the Browns had a great showing against the Chiefs week one despite the loss. Tyrod’s going to be running for his life with Garrett and Clowney in his face all game, and Baker will have the opportunity to torch the Texans low-quality secondary.
Sam: Browns
I mean come on. Old Sam would have made an appeal to the Baker Mayfield Cycle right here, and this game does fit into that narrative, but I actually believe in Baker now and there's no conceivable way he could struggle with this game.
Johnny: Browns
Cleveland went toe-to-toe with the 2-time defending AFC Champs and 3-time defending AFC best team OR best team besides Tom Brady. The Texans are coming off a game against the league’s worst roster. I think we know how this one should go...
New Orleans @ Carolina
Jake: Saints
Jameis looks phenomenal. And it’s the Saints defense.
Sam: Saints
Darnold looked very good last week. Not as good as I expected but I think much better than most people expected. With that being said Jameis Winston was spectacular and I cant see the Panthers out gunning this Saints offense.
Johnny: Saints
^^very unbiased of Sam “Sam Darnold Gutkin” Gutkin
Atlanta @ Tampa Bay 4:05 p.m. ET
Jake: Bucs
Tom Brady will put up 8 TDs in this game if he doesn’t get taken out after the first half in a blowout (like last year).
Sam: Buccaneers
Matt Ryan, the fourth oldest starting QB in the NFL, squares off against the oldest human being on earth Tom Brady. A quarterback rematch of Super Bowl 51, this game will certainly end with the same result, just not as close.
Johnny: Bucs
I feel bad for Matt Ryan
Minnesota @ Arizona 4:05 p.m. ET
Jake: Cardinals
Kirk sucks. Kyler doesn’t. In other news: Chandler Jones is still the best pass-rusher in the NFL.
Sam: Cardinals
Johnny: Cardinals
If Minnesota looks anything like they did last week, this could get ugly.
Dallas @ Los Angeles (A) 4:25 p.m. ET
Jake: Cowboys
The Cowboys looked phenomenal in week one, finishing one drive away from beating the defending Super Bowl champions, and I don’t think there’s a lot of teams they would have lost to week one with that level of performance.
Sam: Cowboys
Johnny: Chargers
LA proved me wrong last week, they won a close game, they can keep up with this Cowboys offense, hopefully this one comes down to the last play
Tennessee @ Seattle 4:25 p.m. ET
Jake: Seahawks
Cue the “let Russ cook” calls while he kills the first half of the regular season only to fizzle out in the second half of the year.
Sam: Seahawks
Johnny: Seahawks
I’ve been saying Tannehill isn’t the right guy for this offense for a while now. ALSO: Russel Wilson will throw for probably around 32 TD the first 5 weeks, but don’t overreact because he’s known to fall off. I’ve already seen the overreactions, these people just don’t know. Not saying it will happen again, just don’t overreact.
Kansas City @ Baltimore 8:20 p.m. ET
Jake: Chiefs
Sam: Chiefs
Johnny: Chiefs
MONDAY
Detroit @ Green Bay 8:20 p.m. ET
Jake: Packers
Sam: Packers
Rodgers looked straight up bad last week. No two ways around it. I don’t think there's any chance he doesn't completely rebound for this one, but even if he is just as bad the Lions still don't stand a chance.
Johnny: Packers
Big Jared Goff garbage time opportunities await!
