New England Patriots WR Gunner Olszewski after a game in 2019 |
New England Patriots WR Gunner Olszewski is on the AP 2020 NFL All-Pro 1st team in just his second season after going undrafted out of Bemidji State in 2019.
Who knew a Pats WR would make this list?
Olszewski averaged 17.3yd/return on 20 returns and brought one to the house week 13 against the Los Angeles Chargers. He also returned a punt for six against the Arizona Cardinals the week before but it got called back.

Looked fine to me.
Olszewski is a true Patriot and is following in the footsteps of the Julian Edelman blueprint: work hard and be patient.
Am I predicting a bust in Canton, Ohio with a Bass Pro Shops hat on it? Not yet, but Edelman was a 7th rounder who switched from his college position to WR, earned his roster spot on special teams, then gained trust from the coaches and quarterback. The Patriots need some drastic change in their WR corps, but I can see Olszewski sticking around for a few seasons.
Teammate P Ryan Allen joined him as a 1st team All-Pro and Captain Matthew Slater got 2nd team Special Teams honors.
